"The History of Plastic Surgery: Much More Than Skin Deep" from the Collection of Douglas M. Monasebian, M.D., D.M.D., F.A.C.S. Spanning nearly 500 years, the history of plastic surgery is showcased from Tagliacozzi in 1597 through the 20th century. The exhibit is divided into eight sections: the dawn of plastic surgery; nasal reconstruction; breast surgery; facial rejuvenation that includes cosmetic surgery and cleft lip palate surgery. The influence of plastic surgery on the treatment of illness and disease and the treatment of those injured during wartime and from trauma are also explored. The final section is on anesthesia, instrumentation and nursing; important adjuncts to the history of Plastic Surgery.
